There once was a young (ish) girl who lived by the beach and loved all things cool and hip. She appreciated good design in any and all forms - buildings, textiles, landscapes & shoes - just to name a few. Her favorite days were bright blue and sunny - the kind you just can't stand to spend indoors. She loved swimming in the clear blue ocean and breathing in the fresh smells of nature. One random day, the girl asked her very strong and manly boyfriend, "How much do you love me?" After careful consideration he replied, "I love you more than fish do this," and proceeded to move his lips, all puckered up, like a fish. Needless to say, this was the best possible answer and "Fish Lips" immediately became a term of endearment, representing all things good, happy and beautiful in life!
Time went on and the girl felt lucky to be living such a charmed life and wanted to pass the feeling on to others. "How can I share super cool designs with people but do it in a way that doesn't hurt the environment and ruin the beautiful blue skies and clear blue oceans," she asked herself? After searching for a gap - something that was missing- she stumbled upon the idea…high quality designer gift wrap, printed on recycled papers. Once she thought of it, it seemed like such a no-brainer! What better and easier way to help people express their personal style than with the paper they wrap gifts in? She saw gift wrap as an extension of the giver and a preview of the gift that was to come. Although the world has lots of gift wrap, the girl felt strongly that none of it was cool or fashionable enough to be called "design". On top of that, the girl was shocked that she couldn't find gift wrap anywhere that was made with recycled papers...
The girl decided that the time was long over due to bring together high design quality and sustainability; the two should not be mutually exclusive, but rather symbiotic! And so, Fish Lips Paper Designs was born.
